Custom Fields Settings

Custom fields are extra data you add to OffZio records — publisher signup and profile, advertiser profile, team member, campaign, or campaign approval — when the built-in form is not enough. You define the label and field type once; staff and partners then fill those fields on the matching entity.

This is different from Campaign Approval Questions. Approval questions are the application form a publisher answers when an offer’s availability is Requires Approval. Custom fields are extra profile (or campaign) data stored on the entity. The Custom Fields page also has a Campaign Approval tab for fields related to that entity — still a field list, not the approval-questions editor.

What custom fields are for

A Network Admin uses Custom Fields to collect information OffZio does not ship by default, for example:

  1. A publisher’s preferred messenger or tax note on signup or profile.
  2. An extra advertiser identifier.
  3. An internal code on a team member or campaign.

On Manage Publishers, a publisher’s details page can show Custom Fields. If nothing is stored yet, it may read No custom field data. That empty state is expected until you add fields here and someone fills them on the publisher record.

Note: Adding a field does not create a publisher, advertiser, or campaign. It only adds a place to store extra data on that entity type.

Who can manage custom fields

Only a Network Admin can add custom fields. Partners fill the fields on their signup or profile when you expose them; they cannot open this Settings page.

Confirm your role on the sidebar profile card if you are unsure. It should show a name and role such as OffZio Admin · Network Admin.

How to open Custom Fields

  1. Sign in as a Network Admin.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Settings.
  3. Under Campaign Management, click Custom Fields.

The title is Custom Fields. The subtitle reads: Manage custom fields for different entities in your network.

Pick the right entity tab first

Each tab is a separate list. Adding a field on Publisher does not add it to Advertiser, Team Member, Campaign, or Campaign Approval.

  1. Publisher — Header: Fields for publisher signup/profile. The screenshot shows 0 fields configured when none exist.
  2. Advertiser — Extra fields on advertiser records.
  3. Team Member — Extra fields on internal staff records.
  4. Campaign — Extra fields on offers.
  5. Campaign Approval — Extra fields related to the campaign-approval entity. For the publisher application question list (traffic source, and so on), use Campaign Approval Questions Settings instead.

Tip: Always select the tab that matches where the data should live before you click + Add Field.

Empty state

When a tab has no fields, OffZio shows: No custom fields yet. Add your first custom field to collect additional information. Use + Add Field to create the first one. After you add fields, the same tab lists them and the count increases (for example, no longer 0 fields configured on Publisher).

Note: This article documents viewing a tab and adding a field. It does not describe edit, delete, or reorder controls. If those appear in your build, use only what the product shows.

Add New Field

Click + Add Field. The modal title is Add New Field. The subtitle reads: Create a new custom field.

  1. Label (required) — Placeholder: Enter field label. This is the name people see (for example, VAT number).
  2. Field Type (required) — Default Text. Options: Text, Number, Email, Date, Select Dropdown, Text Area, Radio Buttons, Checkbox, File Upload.
  3. Placeholder — Placeholder: Enter placeholder text. Hint text inside the field before someone types.
  4. Required field — Checkbox. Can be left unchecked.
  5. Cancel — Closes the modal without creating a field.
  6. Create — Adds the field to the active tab’s list.

Field types in plain language

  1. Text — One short line.
  2. Number — A numeric value.
  3. Email — An email address.
  4. Date — A calendar date.
  5. Select Dropdown — Pick one option from a list.
  6. Text Area — A longer written answer.
  7. Radio Buttons — Pick one option, shown as radios.
  8. Checkbox — A yes/no or multi-select style choice, depending on how the type is presented in the form.
  9. File Upload — Attach a file.

Choose the type that matches the answer you want. Select Dropdown and Radio Buttons are multiple-choice styles. If the modal shows extra fields for choices after you pick one of those types, fill those choices in the same modal. This article does not invent a separate option-list builder.

Required vs optional

  1. Required field checked — The person cannot finish signup or save the record until this field is filled.
  2. Required field unchecked — The field can be left empty.

Note: A required Publisher field can block publisher signup or profile save. A required Advertiser or Campaign field can block saving that record. Only mark required when you will actually use the answer.

Step-by-step: add a custom field

  1. Open Settings → Campaign Management → Custom Fields.
  2. Select the entity tab (Publisher, Advertiser, Team Member, Campaign, or Campaign Approval).
  3. Click + Add Field.
  4. Enter a clear Label.
  5. Choose a Field Type. Use Text unless you need a number, date, email, file, or a fixed list.
  6. If you chose a choice type and the modal asks for options, enter them there.
  7. Optionally enter Placeholder text.
  8. Check Required field only if signup or save must not proceed without an answer.
  9. Click Create.
  10. Confirm the field appears on that tab. Open a matching record (for example Manage Publishers) to see it on the profile when you are ready to collect data.

Best practices

  1. Do not collect data you will not read or report on.
  2. Keep labels specific: “Skype ID” is better than “Other.”
  3. Use required sparingly. Required Publisher fields block signup or save.
  4. Add publisher signup fields on the Publisher tab, not on Campaign.
  5. Use Campaign Approval Questions for “What is your traffic source?” on Requires Approval offers. Use Custom Fields for lasting profile or campaign data.
  6. Start with optional fields, then mark required after you confirm partners can complete them.

Common issues

  1. Empty label — Label is required. Enter a name, then click Create.
  2. Field missing on Advertiser — You may have added it on the Publisher tab. Each tab is a separate list.
  3. Manage Publishers shows No custom field data — No values saved yet, or no Publisher fields exist. Add fields here, then edit the publisher.
  4. Signup will not submit — A required Publisher custom field may be empty. Make it optional or complete the field.
  5. Cannot find the page — Open Settings → Campaign Management → Custom Fields.
